Dr. Prasad completed his medical education at the University of Wales in Cardiff, where he received a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (B.M.B.S.). He continued his studies at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He undertook medical training in London and Geneva.

Research activities

Dr. Prasad is a professor at the National Heart and Lung Institute, part of Imperial College London, and leads a large cardiovascular research group. His team has published more than 200 articles, including in the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, JAMA and Nature, that have helped inform national and international guidelines. A main research interest is in understanding the causes and risk stratification of heart failure. Dr. Prasad is a committed educator and a frequent speaker at national and international meetings.
