Some of the more common include: Difficult constipation caused by slow movements of the bowel or trouble passing stool. Faecal incontinence. Functional bowel conditions. Functional or non-ulcer dyspepsia (NUD). Gastroparesis, which involves food emptying out of the stomach too slowly. Symptoms of the condition can be acid reflux, bloating, nausea, vomiting and not wanting to eat. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Pseudo-obstruction, which involves gastric and intestinal motility. Symptoms of the condition include all of the above as well as distension, abdominal pain, undernutrition and weight loss. Undiagnosed diarrheal syndromes. Though some of these conditions do not have well-defined causes or specific therapies, our highly focused treatments — developed and tested by Mayo Clinic experts — can ease symptoms and improve quality of life.
