Expertise

Professor Branley is a highly experienced consultant in respiratory medicine and exercise pulmonology. He cares for people with a wide range of breathing and lung conditions and has particular expertise in helping people with unexplained breathlessness and reduced ability to exercise. To evaluate the conditions, he uses advanced tests such as cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) and detailed lung function checks.

Professor Branley is dedicated to providing personalised care that is based on the best medical evidence, with the aim of improving both quality of life and long-term health. His academic interests include exercise physiology, respiratory diagnostics, aviation medicine and preventive lung health.

Professor Branley works closely with colleagues across Mayo Clinic to provide integrated, multidisciplinary care.

Education

Professor Branley earned his MBChB at the University of Liverpool and an MSc and MD at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.

Professor Branley trained in respiratory medicine in London teaching hospitals, including Royal Brompton Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, St Mary's Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital.

Professor Branley also has trained in aviation medicine at the Royal Air Force School of Aviation Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
