Dr. Costello is a pulmonologist, who, for 25 years, was head of Respiratory Medicine at King's College Hospital in London. He also served as clinical director of medicine and its trust's first medical director. To ensure his patients receive the most effective and advanced treatments possible, Dr. Costello has conducted research on a broad spectrum of respiratory disorders, and has a clinical commitment to the management of COVID-19 infection in the acute phase and its longer term effects.

Research activities

Dr. Costello is a regular reviewer of a dozen research journals and has published nearly 300 research articles on treatments for and causes of asthma and other pulmonary conditions. He has also edited several books and contributed to more than 20 chapters.

Dr. Costello has served as medical director for King's College Hospital and was the chief of its Academic Department of Respiratory Medicine. He was also the chair of the Royal Society of Medicine's Respiratory Section and was appointed assistant professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco in the U.S.
