“I enjoy the application of science, but also that there is an art to medicine as well. My personal approach to patients is to try and take a holistic view and see the whole patient rather than focus just on individual symptoms or organs. One of the best parts about working in medicine is the relationships that we have with our patients. And seeing those develop over time so that we can offer high-quality personalised care.”

James East, MD, FRCP, FJGES, FESGE, Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist: I'm Dr James East. I'm a consultant gastroenterologist at Mayo Clinic Healthcare London. My main areas of interest are endoscopy and GI tract cancer prevention. I became a physician in part because I enjoyed the application of science, but also that there is an art to medicine as well. Mayo Clinic has a reputation for being the best health care in the world. And I was very excited to have the opportunity to work with the best. One of the most exciting things about working in Mayo Clinic is our relationship with the teams at Rochester and across the US where we can access international level sub specialist expertise to give our patients the best level of care. My personal approach to patients is to try and take a holistic view and see the whole patient rather than focus just on individual symptoms or organs. One of the best parts about working in medicine is the relationships that we have with our patients. And seeing those develop over time so that we can offer high-quality personalized care.
