Expertise

Dr Muaaze Ahmad is a Consultant Radiologist specialising in all aspects of musculoskeletal imaging, including ultrasound, CT and MRI.

He is a consultant radiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust. He is currently a member of the specialist training board at the Royal College of Radiologists, which oversees radiology specialty training in the UK, and has served as its Training Programme Director. He is also the national clinical lead for radiology recruitment.

Dr Ahmad has contributed to research involving imaging and inflammatory arthritis, co-authoring research papers on management of soft tissues neoplasms, treatment of tendinopathy and use of ultrasound in early arthritis.

Education

Dr Ahmad earned his undergraduate medical degree from Victoria University of Manchester. After completing several surgical rotations at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Whiston Hospital, he was selected for a musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at Austin Health in Melbourne, Australia.

Throughout his career, Dr Ahmad has remained involved with educating students and enhancing radiology practices. He has served as the Royal College of Radiologists Training Programme Director, helped develop a strategy for enhancing undergraduate curriculum with electronic learning and is currently an educational supervisor.

Research

Dr Ahmad has cowritten several chapters for medical books and has contributed to peer-reviewed papers involving tendinopathy treatment, soft tissues neoplasms management and best practices for using ultrasound in early arthritis.

He is regularly invited to conferences around the country to share his expertise.
